Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) | Florida Health Polk County

WIC is a federally funded supplemental nutrition program that provides healthy foods, nutrition education, and breastfeeding support to income-eligible families. Statewide the Florida WIC program operates 220 sites where families can receive services from licensed nutritionists and nutrition educators along with their healthy foods.

Medicaid Florida

Medicaid provides medical coverage to low-income individuals and families. The state and federal governments share the cost of the Medicaid program. Medicaid services in Florida are administered by the Agency for HealthCare Administration. Family-Related Medical Assistance Application is for individuals who desire to apply for medical assistance only. If the individual wants to apply for other programs, such as Temporary Cash Assistance and/or food assistance the individual must complete the ACCESS Florida Application.

Healthy Start

Healthy Start is a free home visiting program that provides education and care coordination to pregnant women and families of children under the age of three. The goal of the program is to lower risk factors associated with preterm birth, low birth weight, infant mortality, and poor developmental outcomes.

Florida Baptist Children's Home | One More Child

FBCH | OTC provides Christ-centered services to vulnerable children and struggling families. Their programs consist of helping child hunger, single moms, family support, and more.

Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine

LVIM is a volunteer-run health care center that provides free high-quality medical care to the working uninsured of Polk County.

Homeless Coalition

The Homeless Coalition of Polk County Florida facilitates the coordination and collaboration among organizations serving the homeless population of Polk County. We are the lead agency for the Lakeland/Winter Haven/Polk County Continuum of Care and facilitate the grant application process through the Department of Housing and Urban Development. We manage the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and provide end-user support to Coalition members.

The Nest | Parenting Classes

The Nest is a 501c3 community resource center that serves the growing families of Lakeland and its surrounding areas through lactation support and classes for pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, postpartum health, baby care, and more.

United Way

United Way 211 is the most comprehensive source of human and social services information in the country. United Way's specialists are available 24/7 to connect you with the best services available in Polk, Hardee, and Highlands counties.
