What is the Plan B pill?

Plan B is a form of emergency contraception. It is used to prevent pregnancy after having unprotected sex. It is sometimes called “the morning-after pill.” There are other brands and types of it as well.

When taken within 3 days after having unprotected sex, Plan B may prevent you from becoming pregnant. However, it becomes less effective the more time that passes after having sex. If you were already pregnant (but unaware) before taking Plan B, it will not end your pregnancy.

Is Plan B an Abortion Pill?

Plan B is not the same thing as the Abortion Pill/RU486Emergency contraception does not terminate an existing pregnancy. It is only used for the prevention of pregnancy, like birth control. If you think you could be pregnant, you should take a pregnancy test before taking Plan B. A Woman’s Choice can provide a free pregnancy test for you.
